Skadar Lake National Park: Guided Boat Tour to Kom Monastery

1.Skadar Lake National Park: Guided Boat Tour to Kom Monastery

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 49 reviews · 3 hours (approx.) · from $38Our pick

Set out from Virpazar with an English-speaking guide for a three-hour boat ride across Skadar Lake. Pass Lesendro fortress, lily-covered wetlands, and bird habitats before walking to 16th-century Kom Monastery. Wine, juice, donuts, safety gear, park fees, and swimming time are included.

“The operator offers wise advice about the way other operators try to claim that parking is only free if you go with them. I heard them do this. This is an honest operator. Our captain was friendly and helpful throughout, explaining the sights as we went along, offering free wine, juice and freshly made donuts. Well worth the money.”

Travel from Podgorica to Ostrog Monastery in a private, WiFi-equipped vehicle with driver-guide Dragan. You will hear the story of Saint Basil, see the monastery built into the rock, enjoy views around the site, and often finish with coffee nearby. The tour lasts about 3 to 4 hours.

“What a beautiful experience with a stellar guide/driver, Dragan. I was the only participant and so it felt like a private excursion. The drive to the monastery is scenic and not too far from Podgorica. Dragan provided context about the area and its historical settlements and cultural norms. Once at the Monastery he not only provided details about the history he also shared some of the sacred narratives associated with the remains of Saint Basil. The entire experience was peaceful and informative as well as beautiful as the setting is something to see. The coffee afterwards was the the perfect way to end an amazing morning. I highly recommend booking.”

“I came to Montenegro with a friend, only for a few days. We hit the jackpot when we got Nino as our guide. He is knowledgeable, interesting, fun and was interested in what we wanted to do . We saw Roman ruins, monasteries, art galleries, the most beautiful natural landscapes, and had the most delicious and memorable lunch by the river. I couldn’t recommend Nino more. We will definitely come back to Montenegro after that one amazing day Neeta and Carly”

It was an amazing day in a beautiful setting!”

6.Book Your Tour Ostrog Monastery

★★★★★★★★★★3.5 · 3 reviews · 4 to 6 hours (approx.) · from $78

Travel from Podgorica to Ostrog Monastery in an air-conditioned vehicle with hotel pickup and return transport. You will have about two hours at the holy site, but no professional guide is included. Wear clothing covering your shoulders and knees, and bring sturdy shoes.

“We got to see Ostrog monastery, but unfortunately there was no guided tour, which was in advertisment. We only got to see upper monastery, had to skip lower one because the queue to see St. Basil was long, and it took longer than expected. We were only two people and booked night before the tour, maybe that's why no tour? We don't know, but overall it was ok.”
